COVID-19 Changes Life at Royal Villas

We are have all been made very aware of the Monster that the COVID-19 virus is. I would like to take a few moments to emphasize the changes that it is making in our Community.

First and Foremost, WASH YOUR HANDS! Do this every time you touch your face, your nose, or your mouth. This is the most common way that the virus is spread - by direct contact.

Do not congregate in groups. Whenever you are in even a small group, keep at least 6 feet from other people. This applies wherever you are, stores, offices, or any place there are 2 or more people.

Whenever possible, stay at home, and avoid contact with other people, especially youngsters and other Senior Citizens. A Pediatric Doctor friend of mine recently told me that the most dangerous people you know are your Grandchildren! They spend all day at school, playing with other kids that may be contaminated with any number of diseases. And although they may not show symptoms of a disease, they can still pass it on to you.

In their recent press conference, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, Multnomah County Chair Gretchen Kafoury, and Oregon Govener Kate Brown all emphasized the importance of NOT coming n contact with other people! This is the only way to slow or prevent the spread of COVID-19! And although there was some confusion afterwards as to just what they were calling for, they did not issue a "Stay Home" order, although now many Mayors are now urging the Gov to issue one. One thing I took away from that press conference was that Gov. Brown was really 'talking down to us.' She repeated the phrase, 'I have made this very clear ...' like she was talking to 5-year-olds who really couldn't grasp what she was trying to say. If she thinks people can't understand what she was saying, she should have restated what she wanted to say in words that were more understandable to everyone! No wonder there was confusion.

ROYAL VILLAS PROHIBITS
ALL
ACTIVITIES

In an expected move, the manager has banned all activities in the Clubhouse. But in a totally unexpected (and really unneccessary) move, she has also banned all outdoor activities; ping-pong, horseshoes, and shuffleboard. These are all outdoor games, and the participants can easily stay at least 6 feet apart, in the fresh air! Wiping down the game equipment with an alcohol-dampened cloth would eliminate any chance of contamination. But she thinks she has to take every chance to bully, harrass, or intimidate the residents of Royal Villa in every little way she can. She is really showing how little she cares for our health and well-being.
As usual, I am always expecting you to send me your articles of interest, stories, photographs, letters to the editor or story ideas. With your help, we can make this Supplement a very vibrant organ for our community. Pleas email ANYTHING to:
